Very easy to read, interesting biography. I would definitely recommend this book if you have a general interest in the history of photography, George Eastman and the history of Eastman Kodak.I'm looking for a bit more on the personality of Mr. Eastman and his relationship with other inventors of the day like Thomas Edison. I'm ordering Elizabeth Brayer's book next.
I enjoyed this well written biography of Mr. Eastman. If you enjoy history of our great country I am sure you will enjoy this book too.
This author has gathered together key insights into the life of George Eastman. The two topics, the life of George Eastman, and the history of photography are intertwined to complete a total picture of the times. Surprisingly rising up amid early departure from schooling and poverty, a picture of George includes wise business opportunities, creative and investigative thought processes, and operating his company on a human level.His donations were well-chosen to make a more desirable world and spurred communities toward health and educational enhancements.It is well written for a light reading venue, but still includes all that one might like to understand. The trials and upswings of the Kodak company say much about his character. Well-known individuals from the era are mentioned as they work alongside George, One might find fascinating all the institutions and public comforts that were touched by this man.And one last note....just how was the Kodak name chosen? This is an easy and fast read. A very concise biography. It doesn't delve in much details but it's useful in giving the highlights of Eastman life and work.I praise the effort and dedication of the author, and I surely recommend the book. It is a halfway between a wikipedia article and a complete biography.
This is a clear picture of the man and how he invented film and camera improvements. Just a great book that can be read quickly but full of information. Great book
Lynda Pflueger probably didn't realize how propitious her timing was when she released her excellent history book on Thomas Nast. The `Je suis Charlie' tragedy is about freed speech in the way that cartoonists can present it, and she offered the biography of one of the more important cartoonists of history. Lynda Pflueger is a history buff, particularly US history. She loves visiting museums and libraries.
