As usual Devdutt is master in interpreting the myth in an understandable manner to ordinary folks. He removes the notion of superstition from myth and practices that evolved out of myth and brings into the context in which the mythology was created. Rather than traditional western way of dismissing anything that is not objective he digs deeper into a very real realm of Human subjective and psychological views.
Starts off great and then wanes a bit towards the middle chapters. But all in all, the reading was quite fascinating, especially the chapter about the Goddess. Highly recommended for Hindu mythology. Style of writing is very interesting. So direct...
A great overview of the myriad morfing representations of the Hindu Goddess. I thoroughly enjoyed the open minded questioning of any one single interpretation.

Well written and informative. A treasure trove! The last chapter seemed a bit repetitive and can be improved upon in a future version.
