This book has been discontinued by the publisher (Microsoft Press) because it is no longer valid for Exam 70-532. The information applies to old Azure which is no longer offered. You will NOT be prepared for the exam by studying this book. Go to the exam listing on the Microsoft Learning site to see the updated description of Exam 70-532 (see screenshot attached to this comment). The resource links given on that page will help prepare you for the exam. This book and old training like vidoes by the nugget computer based training people are too far out of date. This book is likewise not a good source for learning about Azure because the screens and instructions apply to a service that has been completely changed.
While the book is indeed riddled with typos, the content is impressively concise. The authors do a great a job focusing on what's relevant in the context of taking the exam and at the same time offer a healthy dose of pointers for more in-depth study. This makes it easy to adapt your pace going through the book, based on your existing knowledge level.A good example is Objective 4.2: Implement Azure Storage tables - best "to the point" explanation of a concept I've seen in a long time! Pay special attention to the thought experiments, objective summaries and reviews at the end of each objective. They are packed with extra information not explicitly stated in the objectives themselves. Also, watch for questions styled like "which of the following are NOT true" as they can throw you off.Beyond preparing for the exam, this book will likely make a good reference later on, while trying to maneuver the vast landscape of the Azure behemoth. The only downside is that Azure changes so rapidly, some of the nomenclature used in the book is already obsolete (e.g. web sites are now called web apps in the portals). Also the existence of 2 management portals makes things more complicated than it should be! But c'est la Microsoft, not the fault of the book.At the risk of stating the obvious, one final warning - this is not a book to learn the underlying technology, it's a book to help you prepare for the exam. Sure, the reader learns a lot of new things but it's not a starting point to learn Azure. There WILL be code in the exam and there WILL be case questions. I am giving the book 4 stars because it does not show any examples of case-based questions where time-management is very important (which would be helpful for preparing you for the exam).
Used this book while studying for the 70-532 exam. Its NOT a 'exam-dump' but does cover all the core exam principles nicely. Also a good practical Azure Developer overview guide with a great deal of step by steps. Passed my exam first shot with a 710 on 700. This book was definitely a great asset. Keeping the book on the shelf as a good Azure reference asset.
9 pages into this book and the instructions are all old and based upon the old portal. They give examples of the new port but microsoft obviously has changed the way the preview portal follows so most of the logic is broken. So simple thing like building a website is completely different then according to book. Will be returning it as it feels like I'm reading a book that was published 3 years ago. Disappointed to say the least.
Great product in general, would be 5 stars if there weren't so many silly typos in the book. Keeps you on your toes though. Makes you say hmmm.... I understand this stuff so well now that that word MUST be a typo. Clever design? Maybe.
This second edition book is nothing more than screen scrapes and next-next-next steps. It does not explain things, but rather refers the reader to online references. Just a bunch of pics and links. It did absolutely nothing for me, other than waste time and more, to adequately prepare for the exam. Do not expect to pass the exam from studying this book. Cannot recommend this book; better off going to the vendor site and referring to the online prep material there instead.
I've passed a lot of Microsoft exams. This is a good book. As you'd expect with any Azure book, some of it is a little out-of-date. I think it's about the only book worth buying for this exam. Vastly superior to Fernando Pupo's kindle book.
This is the first book that I've used for exam preparation that was very straightforward yet very informative.
